1960

First Steps

Enrique Corcuera sets up a tennis court net on a pelota court at his hacienda in Estipac, Jalisco. He finds the combination of the two sports amusing: the speed of tennis and the wall rebound of pelota.

HEADLINE: The Creators of Padel

1969

Padel Corcuer

Enrique Corcuera buys a house in Las Brisas Acapulco Guerrero, Mexico. His garden space is small, so he decides to build a Padel court 20 meters by 10 meters. He decides to call his new invention Padel Corcuera.

1974

Hotel Marbella Club

Prince Alfonso of Hohenlohe discovers Paddle Corcuera while vacationing with his friend Enrique in Acapulco. Upon returning to Spain, he decides to build a similar court at his new real estate development in Spain, the Marbella Club. They call it Padel.

1985

Regulations

There are several Corcuera Padel courts in Mexico, Argentina, and Spain. Viviana Corcuera, with the help of her husband Enrique, decided to create official rules for Corcuera Padel.

1987

First Federation.

Asociación Platense de Padel is founded, the first institutional entity related to padel in the world. One year later, Oscar “Cacho” Nicastro founds the APA, the first national Paddle tennis association in the world.

1990

International Promotion

Viviana and Enrique Corcuera travelled to Argentina, Spain and Mexico to promote padel. Viviana appeared with Plácido Domingo, a great promoter of padel in Acapulco.

1991

International Padel Federation

Julio Alegría is the first president of the FIP and a year later the first World Championship is held with the participation of 11 countries.

1993

International Padel Federation

Enrique and Viviana, with their good friend Notary Ignacio Soto Borja, founded the Mexican Padel Federation. They decided to change the name from Padel Corcuera to Padel.

1993

First Corcuera Cup

The first international padel tournament in the world was held at Hotel Villa Vera in Acapulco, organized by Ignacio Soto Borja, Cacho Nicastro, Viviana and Luis Corcuera.

1999

World Padel Tour.

The WORLD PADEL TOUR is a collaboration between the world's Padel federations and the Association of Professional Padel Players. The best male and female Padel players in the world participate.

2013

2013: World Padel Tour begins.

The first World Padel Tour takes place in 2013.

2022

Recognition

In June 2022 the Mexican Senate recognized Don Enrique Corcuera as the creator of padel.

2024

Premier Padel Acapulco

Professional padel returns to its home in Acapulco. Enrique Corcuera Jr, Gerardo Suárez, Felipe Madero, Manuel Manterola and Raynard Picard founded COPA Padel to promote padel as a Mexican sport.
